IC 5146 (also catalogued as Sh 2-125, Cocoon Nebula) is a reflection/emission nebula in the constellation Cygnus. Properly speacking, IC 5146 refersto the star cluster and Sh2-125 to the nebula. The dark nebula Barnard 168 (B168, or LDN 1055) forms a dark lane that surrounds the cluster and projects westward (upward on the image), forming the appearance of a trail behind the Cocoon.Van den Bergh 147 (VdB 147) is the small reflection nebula just above the Cocoon.
